One hangar, one stage, twelve acts across two nights. At a festival that bill is a single Friday, spread over four stages.
Factory 93, Insomniac's techno brand, has Halloween weekend at The Gold Bar Hangar on Monarch Street in Alameda. Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, doors at 7pm, lights up at 2am both nights, 21 and over.
Friday is the techno night: 999999999, Richie Hawtin, Indira Paganotto, Boys Noize b2b Salome, ADRA and Yanamaste. Saturday hands the room to house: Jamie Jones, Franky Rizardo, SOSA, Papa Lu and Silvie Loto.
The room does the programming
Four stages running at once lets you cheat: half an hour of Hawtin, a walk, half an hour of Jamie Jones, and you tell everyone you saw both. One room takes that away. The genre becomes the date, so the choice moves from which stage to which night, and it gets made at checkout instead of at 1am with your phone at three percent.
Six billed slots Friday, five Saturday, seven hours each night. Divide that and you get sets rather than appearances.
Hawtin has been picking this shape for a while. We covered CLOSE arriving at Brooklyn's Avant Gardner in December 2018, billed as an extended show and his only North American date that year. Same instinct: nothing competing for the floor at the wrong moment.
Two-day GA runs $141.03 with fees. Single nights are $84.62 at tier one, and tier one is a number that moves.
