The island becomes the venue
Sziget uses Obuda Island as more than a collection of stages. The site becomes a temporary city with its own routes, landmarks and gathering points, so moving through the festival can be as important as arriving at a particular headline set.
Range is the organising idea
Electronic music shares the programme with live bands, performance and visual culture. That breadth makes strict scheduling difficult but rewards curiosity. A useful day at Sziget often starts with one fixed artist and leaves enough space for the island to change the rest of the plan.
