Two cities, one festival idea

Summer Sonic began with the unusual decision to run simultaneously in Japan's Kanto and Kansai regions. Artists rotate between Tokyo and Osaka, giving both cities access to a broad international bill while keeping the weekend tightly coordinated.

Built to move with popular music

The programme crosses rock, pop, electronic music and hip-hop instead of defending one genre border. Multiple stages and attraction areas make it possible to move from a stadium-scale performance to a sharper club-facing sound. That flexibility has kept Summer Sonic connected to changes in global music while its two-city structure remains the signature.
