As New York looks ahead to warmer days this Memorial Day Weekend for Mysteryland USA‘s sophomore edition, fans can start the party this Saturday, February 21 as Zeitgeist presents French Express brings the grooves to Brooklyn’s Verboten for a Mysteryland Curator Showcase.
French Express labelmates, Moon Boots, Jonas Rathsman, Perseus and Isaac Tichauer come together with their sultry grooves and future disco sound for a special Saturday edition of Verboten’s weekly indie dance and nu disco party, Zeitgeist. This Mysteryland Curator Showcase is the first of a series of events that will take place in the lead up to Mysteryland USA and fans can expect more events to be announced soon!
Moon Boots has been traveling the world finding solace in the soothing sounds of underground disco and R&B boogie records, returning to take Verboten on a galactic groove ride this month. Check out his latest track “There’s No Love” available for free download on SoundCloud here.
An integral member of the French Express crew declared ‘Future Star of 2013’ by BBC Radio 1’s key dance gatekeeper, Pete Tong, Jonas Rathsman seemed to burst from nowhere. But as with all ‘overnight successes’, the rise of this Gothenburg based producer and DJ is anything but. He found his own genre-defining sound early on with his first release for French Express, ‘Love Is My Middle Name’. Further singles ‘Since I Don’t Have You’ and ‘W4W’ continued to catch the attention of Pete Tong who granted Jonas the highly coveted Essential Mix slot in January 2013. With a new single planned and some sensational remixes to come, Jonas Rathsman is set for a very busy, but hugely exciting future to confirm all notions that this versatile Swede is most definitely here to stay.
In 2010, Toronto born, Leon Oziel (aka Perseus), decided to take his passion for house music and discovering new artists to the next level. He turned the name of his blog into a record label, French Express, he recruited talents like Chris Malinchak and Moon Boots to the roster, and has been pumping out rhythmic house tunes ever since. Now he’s returning to his roots, planning to produce uplifting and “romantic” techno under his given name, Leon Oziel, making this Saturday’s show at Verboten one of his final gigs as the moniker Perseus. Bound together with oozing soul and moody bass-lines, Isaac Tichauer‘s productions splice together classic and contemporary house concepts. A classically trained pianist and heavily influenced by the Detroit house scene, Isaac orchestrates a deep progressive energy in his music through detailed synth work, melancholy vocals and classic lead elements from Rhodes to strings. Isaac released his club hit “I Forgive You”, and more recently the “Take Over You” EP in May 2013 that saw Isaac’s compositions reach new heights, enjoying regular play on BBC Radio One and Triple J Australia. Now residing in Berlin, Isaac works as a producer full-time, dedicating his time to a host of brand new productions and continuing his celebrated mixtape series.
