Watch Controversial Dance Music Video that Tops Charts

Swedish producer and DJ, Eric Prydz, may be afraid of flying but he certainly isnt scared of a little controversy. The video for the single "Call On Me" , a remake of Steve Winwoods classic hit Valerie, is already generating much discussion around the globe. The conservative daily UK newspaper, The Daily Mail quoted Tory Conservative leader John Whitting as saying It is sad that we have got to the stage where singles are promoted not on their musical quality but on the basis of sexual imagery. They also quoted John Beyer of Mediawatch who said, It is yet another example of sexual imagery being used to promote goods to impressionable people.

So what exactly are they talking about? The unforgettable video which has generated some much-heated discussions overseas shows scantily clad participants gyrating in an aerobics class groping themselves while performing suggestive exercise routines. The makers of the video insist it is just good clean fun, according to The Daily Mail.

The video for Call On Me has propelled the single to the top of the charts and has made the #1 spot its home on the UK singles chart, knocking out heavy-weights like Robbie Williams , Kelis, R Kelly and Depeche Mode. It is now officially the longest charting UK No.1 of 2004! It is also making strong appearances on charts internationally debuting at- #1 in Germany, #2 in Australia and has been #1 in Ireland for 3 weeks, debuted in the Top 5 in the Netherlands, and Top 10 in Belgium. The controversial video is now hitting the shores of Canada and was immediately added into rotation at MuchMusic as MuchMusics buzziest video pick of the week" after passing their review standards committee.

Call On Me was originally a 1980s smash hit for Steve Winwood called Valerie. When Winwood heard the bootlegged remix he thought it was so good he not only gave his permission to use the samples, he even re-recorded his vocals especially for the track (fullstop?)
