After an explosive run of dates at SXSW which included Perez Hilton’s “One Night In Austin,” FLOODfest and their own official SXSW showcase, U.K. pop duo THE TING TINGS are now out on their North American tour until April 25 for 21 headlining dates in support of their new full-length album SUPER CRITICAL, out now via Finca/. After the tour wraps, the duo–Katie White and Jules De Martino–will return to Los Angeles on Monday, April 27 to perform their current single “Wrong Club” on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”
Meanwhile, “Wrong Club” is gaining major support at HOT AC and AAA radio and has been playlisted at KLLC (Alice)/San Francisco, KALC (Alice)/Denver, WXRT/Chicago, WIAD/D.C., WBMX/Boston, WWMX/Baltimore, WBZZ/Pittsburgh, KAMX/Austin and KGSR/Austin. The tour kicked off last night (3/23), at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA and will hit major markets including Vancouver, Seattle, Minneapolis and Chicago before stopping in Brooklyn on April 6 for a previously postponed date at Rough Trade and a New York City show at Webster Hall on April 8. THE TING TINGS–known for their massive hits“That’s Not My Name”and “Shut Up and Let Me Go,” among others–approached this new album differently. Feeling uninspired, the two sought out an adventure in late 2012 which took them to Ibiza. While there, someone introduced Katie and Jules to Duran Duran’s stalwart guitarist Andy Taylor who offered to help sift through some old demos and became co-producer of this project. Songs began emerging. The result is SUPER CRITICAL, a hook-stuffed, introspective, modern disco-funk opus.
