“…the group has premiered their catchy new garage-rock tune ‘AAAAAH,’ which channels both the rawness of the Arctic Monkeys and the unapologetic pop of Franz Ferdinand. Quick-witted, conversational lyrics and a catchy chorus drive the tune, with rhythmic clapping and drums, and a fast-paced melody that cement the single as an instant, irresistible must-dance moment.”
–FLOOD (U.S.)
“The four-piece have an electrifying live show, are cult heroes in their native land and create stirring riffs, pulsating drums, and soaring vocals.”
–CLASH (U.K)
“…a fast, groovy show.”

TAYMIR (pronounced tie-meer)–the Dutch four-piece tipped as ones-to-watch by MTV Iggy–are bringing their infectious, garage-rock sounds to North America this spring to properly introduce themselves to U.S. audiences. TAYMIR will land in San Francisco on Friday, March 13 for a special show at Popscene with Wolf Alice and The Moth & the Flame. Today, (Friday, February 27) the group has partnered with FLOOD, the music & culture site for the U.S. premiere of their first single “AAAAAH,” listen (HERE).
Next, the band will head to Austin, TX for a series of high-profile shows at the SXSW Music Festival including two performances at FLOODFest on Wednesday, March 18 alongside Spoon, Win Butler (Arcade Fire), Run The Jewels and more in the Cedar Street Courtyard as well as the Beautiful Buzz & Launch party at Brew Exchange. On Thursday, March 19, TAYMIR will perform their official SXSW showcase at the Planetary Group show in Maggie Mae’s Gibson Room. Saturday, March 20 will see them perform at Culture Collide alongside Palma Violets, The Vaccines and many others at the Container Bar (see line-ups below).
The fiery, young group, whose modern take on the 60’s rock sound is garnering comparisons ranging from Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand to The Who, released their acclaimed debut full-length PHOSPHENE in their homeland of The Netherlands in late 2013. DIV/UNDIV (Netherlands) described the 13-song set as “Unpolished, daring and fun.” In 2014, the group became a force in their home country and topped the Dutch airplay charts with their single “AAAAAH” while stepping out on the international stage after being invited to open the prestigious London Calling Festival at Paradiso in Amsterdam as the only Dutch band on the bill. Last year, TAYMIR continued to build on the world stage performing at over 40 festivals including The Great Escape (England), Eurosonic-Noorderslag (The Netherlands), Berlin Music Week, Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg), Waves (Bratislava, Slovakia), MaMa (Paris), Culture Collide (Los Angeles) and CMJ (New York). The four-piece also performed at the biggest Dutch festivals Down The Rabbit Hole and Pinkpop sharing the stage with international stars such as The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Hozier, The Black Keys, Foals, Ed Sheeran and more.
Take a behind-the-scenes look at what a festival performance is like for TAYMIR back in The Netherlands from Episode 40 of their “60 Seconds With Taymir” series on YouTube from the Appelpop Festival: http://youtu.be/41KfISvJ1C0.
The group’s catchy track “What Would You Say” was hand-picked by tastemakers Ally McCrae (BBC Radio) and Achal Dhillon for inclusion on the 2014 New Moons: Volume II compilation by the hip London imprint Killing Moon (a partnership with Turn First Artists/Universal). Then, Clash magazine in the U.K. premiered the “What Would You Say” music video. In December, TAYMIR was selected to headline the CLUB NME party for a massive debut London show at the renowned club Koko.
In 2015, TAYMIR is ready for another exciting year with the international release of their debut full-length album PHOSPHENE, which will be released in Europe this spring, and the rest of the world later in the year. With a major run of shows this spring, TAYMIR is ready to share with the world what The Netherlands already knows…
