Under the icy glaze of a Canadian winter, Montreal’s dance scene is thriving. Caught in between European and North American culture and born from the dust of disco, the city’s dance scene has always been drawn around small communities with great reach. “It’s a big city, but it’s a village,” says Montreal promoter DL Jones, of a “village” that’s produced everyone from Chromeo to Grimes to Kaytranada.
