The first Grand Theft Auto VI music you can actually hear is an album, not a radio station. Rockstar and Atlantic have Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album up for pre-save and pre-order now: 34 original tracks, out November 19, the same day as the game. Six singles are already streaming.
The one to open first is "Sexy Magic", where the credit line runs CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy.
De Crécy is not a new name around here. In 2002 we reviewed Dimitri from Paris at Luce in Vancouver and wrote that the French house scene got almost no exposure in North America, naming de Crécy among the artists making it hard to ignore. Twenty-four years later he is on a GTA single.
Travis Scott's "RHYNO" is the other one to watch. Pitchfork and DJ Mag both report it was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk. Rockstar's music page lists no producers at all, so that one is press reporting rather than a confirmed credit.
The other four singles are Yung Lean with Future and Metro Boomin, Rauw Alejandro, Morgan Wallen and Keith Richards.
What Rockstar has not said is anything about how the game uses music. No radio stations, no station DJs, no score detail, and 28 of the 34 tracks still unnamed.
