Today (5/4), New York-based electro-pop artist/producer/songwriter/DJ PENGUIN PRISON (aka Chris Glover) released his second studio album Lost In New York via Downtown Records. Lost In New York is now available on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify, and vinyl via HiFi 24/7.

To coincide with the album release, PENGUIN PRISON alsoannounced today his North American tour to support LOST IN NEW YORK, including an album release show this Saturday (5/9) at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY. The full tour itinerary is below, with more dates to be announced soon.

Says Chris: “I put a lot of work into this new album and I am very happy to finally share it with everyone. If you have been a fan of Penguin Prison for a long time I want to thank you for staying with me this whole time and I hope you think the new album is worth the wait. So buy it, stream it, share it, tell everyone you know and I hope to see you at a show sometime soon! Thank you!”

The next movement in the PENGUIN PRISON framework, Lost In New York is where Glover finds himself through new and old inspirations. On the new full length album, the hustle and bustle of the city comes alive. From the vintage glam of NYC’s storied disco heyday, all the way through to the bohemian rhapsody of modern Brooklyn, Lost In New York is a cultural time-capsule dedicated to the greatest city on the planet as told via Glover‘s intimate storytelling and personal brand of electro-pop. Lost In New York, includes Calling Out, the album’s lead single co-written with DJ/production duo Oliver, ofwhich SPIN.com noted, “A huge welcome comeback…Hits all the pop pleasure centers.”; the second single, “Never Gets Old,” co-written with Amanda Warner and Peter Wade of the electronic duo MNDR; and the newly released track “Try To Lose.”

PENGUIN PRISON‘s self-titled debut album garnered substantial critical acclaim across both mainstream and indie media: ROLLINGSTONE.com cited his “excellent” songwriting and “sleek, modern production style [that] recalls Phoenix, Scissor Sisters and Hot Chip,” while SPIN.com called the album, “one of the catchiest concoctions” (10/14) and KCRW said he’s “so damn good.” Since releasing his debut LP, Chris has been praised by BBC for “turning out immaculate remixes for Marina and the Diamonds, The Temper Trap and Dirty Vegas…” as well as for his DJ sets with live vocals which have been described as “some of the most engaging on the Williamsburg scene” by the NEW YORK TIMES. Chris added a full band to his live show in 2011, playing high profile shows all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe, including multiple showcases at the world-renowned SXSW, sold out dates with Girl Talk, Temper Trap, and Miike Snow and festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Firefly Music Festival, Virgin Free Fest, Fun Fun Fun Fest, TomorrowWorld, Wakarusa, Electric Forest, Budweiser Made In America, Splash House, Full Moon Fest, Culture Collide and more.
