![]() As a creative seer, PATRICE calls up exactly what the world is seeking: movement. His songs inspire the listener’s body to move, onto the dancefloor, all while edging their minds out of their comfort zones and into power. “Burning Bridges”– PATRICE’s newest single-is out now on iTunes and available everywhere this Friday, June 24. This anthemic call to action is sure to set this summer ablaze. As the first single of PATRICE’s forthcoming album LIFE’S BLOOD, it will be included as an immediate download with every digital pre-order of the album.
“We were born in an open war, can’t remember how it was before.”
Produced by France’s Picard Brothers, known for their work on Major Lazer‘s “Powerful,” and co-written with Diplo and singer MO, “Burning Bridges” is part of the soundtrack of today’s metropolises, where the hopes and struggles of our time are most manifest. PATRICE, born in 1979 as son to a great Sierra Leonean-intellectual father and a German mother, lives in between Paris, New York CityandCologne; all cities that play a particular role in the unfolding of today’s stories, musically and culturally as well as historically. It is obvious that “Burning Bridges” is also a song coming out of a clear tradition: PATRICE’s personal history of creating music that combines the political with the highly artistic, as well as the rich history of protest-and-unity songs, from Nina Simone to Bob Marley.
In the music video for “Burning Bridges” available today, June 22 dancers of the Caribbean-Jonkunno tradition rise up against evil spirits and worldly oppressors. We witness their dance of joy, strength and overpowering spirit. Shot in Jamaica, it’s directed by PATRICE himself.

About Patrice:
Patrice Babatunde Bart-Williams, better known as Patrice, is an award winning Sierra Leonean-German singer-songwriter, producer, and filmmaker. Patrice released his critically acclaimed EP Lions in 1999, which led to him supporting Lauryn Hill on the European leg of her Miseducation tour. Lions helped to cement Patrice’s style of blending reggae, soul, punk and folk, leading to the release of his first full length album, Ancient Spirits, through Sony. Nearly 20 albums later, Patrice has become one of the most dynamic forces on the global music scene, consistently selling out tours with his band Supowers and his style of Afrofuturistic sounds and visuals. Patrice has supported fellow artists Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas and produced work for Cody ChesnuTT and Selah Sue. Patrice moved into film while scoring the documentaries of TED prize winner street artist JR’s “Women are Heroes,” and “Inside Out,” later going on to create a full-length feature film based in Sierra Leone.
