The Plan is out now, two tracks on Ellum Audio, the label Maceo Plex runs himself. It is his first new project since '93 in 2023, and the detail worth holding is where '93 went out: Lone Romantic. This one came home.

The title track sets Baby Monsta's vocal over warped synth textures and a rhythm aimed squarely at peak time, pulling on techno, melodic house and bass without fully committing to any of the three.

"Lonely Drive" does the opposite of what its title promises. Bright percussion, wide cinematic melodies, none of the introspection you brace for. The gap between the name and the sound is the most interesting decision on a record that only has two of them.

Two tracks after two years is a small return, though the release schedule was never where the year went. EDM Identity lists recent appearances at Lightning in a Bottle, Movement Detroit, Time Warp and 909 in Amsterdam, plus an Ibiza season running across [UNVRS], Pacha, DC-10 and Amnesia. Four clubs on one island is a residency calendar in everything but the word.

We have the other end of that thread. In August 2015 we ran the ENTER. programme from Space, where "ENTER. favourites Maceo Plex and Mano Le Tough" took the Terrace on 6 August. Eleven Ibiza summers sit between that booking and this one.

An artist with a calendar that full can place a two-track EP anywhere he likes. He put this one on his own label.
