November 1 3 was supposed to be a sun drenched weekend full of incredible talent. As fate would have it, ACA World Sound Fest had to close down early do to a violent storm.
In thirty minutes all five stages were destroyed. Projection screens, sound systems, and dj equipment were all equally ruined by the sudden outburst of rain and wind. When the storm began, Beck and the Flaming Lips were in the middle of a rehearsal and some of their equipment was wrecked. The likes of John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, and Roger Sanchez were all cancelled.
This is the second year in a row that ACAsoundfest has not gone as planned. Last year the festival was cancelled due to the events on September 11th.
Although the losses have yet to be calculated, about 40,000 tickets will have to be refunded and tens of thousands of dollars of equipment replaced. This little tragedy will have larger implications than if it had happened to another party as most of the profit made was to be donated to charity.
