As expected, the concert for Canadian electrohouse DJ 'Deadmau5 at LiveCity Yaletown reached capacity early and the gates were closed with thousands of fans left outside.
But that didn't stop the reported 20,000 others who were locked out from having a good time, as thousands stuck around and turned the area outside the LiveCity venue into an impromptu dance party.
DJ Deadmau5 (real name: Joel Zimmerman) said on his Twitter feed that he would try to accommodate the outsiders by turning up the music: "@Deadmau5: Ill try to crank the s**t out of the PA so all the lovelies outside can enjoy too!"
According to LiveCity's Facebook site, people were posting messages on the Internet from the lineup as early as 11:00 a.m. for Deadmau5’s 9:30 p.m. show at the Yaletown venue. One group of teenagers camped out overnight to ensue their spot in line.
On Deadmau5's Facebook site, 17,000 people RSVP'd to the free show, which had a capacity of just 8,000. Thousands more turned up late in hope they might be squeezed in.
