Carl Cox contributed three original tracks to the soundtrack of Andy Serkis' Animal Farm: The Rogues, Drone Farm, and My Bunker My Party. Even the titles sound built for scenes rather than a club set.
The 42-track Animal Farm (Soundtrack From The Angel Film) was released May 1, 2026, via Lakeshore Records and is jointly credited to composer Heitor Pereira and Cox. DJ Mag described it as Cox's film soundtrack debut. Cox told Resident Advisor the work was "something a little different" and "a natural extension of my journey."
What a DJ can bring to a score
A techno DJ spends a career managing time and pressure: extending an approach, delaying a peak, and using a drone to change how the next kick lands. Film uses similar tools, but ties them to an edit rather than a crowd.
DJVibe filed the 2014 EXIT Dance Arena bill pairing Cox with Danny Tenaglia, and Nicole Moudaber's One Day Later EP on his Intec Digital label that January. Neither is a composing credit. Both show the long practice behind arranging tension and release.
Film cues work on a tighter clock, and the final release belongs to the edit rather than the DJ. A title like Drone Farm suggests which part of Cox's toolkit made the trip.
Electronic producers moving to picture is not new. In January 2019, DJVibe covered deadmau5's Polar soundtrack, his film-score debut for Jonas Åkerlund's Netflix film.
The Animal Farm album has been out since May. The proper test is how Cox's three cues function inside someone else's edit, where he no longer controls when the pressure breaks.
