Bugged Out is celebrating its eighth birthday throughout November and it plans on having the whole world celebrating. The birthday party will be club-hopping throughout the UK and will make an additional stop in Belgium.
Liverpool, Edinburgh, Dublin, London, Manchester, and Antwerp will all be playing host on different dates.
In Liverpool, Lottie, FC Kahuna, DJ C1, Jeff Mills and Derrick Carter will be playing (the latter two will be playing three hours each). On November 2, in Dublin, John Carter and Medicine8 will be helping out with the festivities. November 9, in London, Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) will be playing with DJ Falcon. Cassius and Dexter from The Avalanches will also be playing at The End. James Lavelle will be headlining in Manchester. Fred Deakin from Lemon Jelly will be spinning and Green Velvet will be doing a live set at the Edinburgh party (November 23).
Like most other massive clubs, Bugged Out! has humble roots. It first started out as a weekly Friday nighter in a soap factory in Manchester. The promoters didn't plan on keeping the party alive very long but enough people (the 'buggers') became addicted to its acid house sound and 'underground' vibe that it started to grow in popularity and became a cornerstone of the Manchester party scene. In its first year the Chemical Brothers, Derrick Carter and Carl Cox all had played at Bugged Out! Cajmere and Derrick Carter both made their UK debut at Bugged Out!
Three years in, Bugged Out! moved from the destitute industrial zone to superclub Cream. Seeing as Bugged Out! was filling up a 3,500 person club it definitely wasn't underground anymore, but it always tried to maintain a certain ambiance and a variety of djs and music.
Bugged Out! is now an international phenomenon. In 1999 Bugged Out! successfully invaded Ibiza with Jeff Mills and nowadays, seeing a Bugged Out! stage at most international festivals is the norm.
Later this month they will have a stage at Gatecrasher NEC.NXT. Headliners at the Bugged Out! stage will include Underworld, Xpress 2, Josh Wink, and FC Kahuna.
