Alt/Electronic group V Y D continue to build momentum for their forthcoming EP RETROGRADE (PART 1) by partnering with DIFFUSER.FM yesterday (4/30) to premiere their second single, “Hot Water.” RETROGRADE (PART 1), set for release on Friday, May 22, is the firstof a two-part collection of tracks that V Y D will release this year.

“We recorded the EP during Mercury Retrograde in November and December of 2014,” says V Y D‘s Justin Howard about the EP’s title. “So I guess the stars aligned, literally. It’s perfect because it also fits with the whole throwback feel of the EP…the idea of moving forward but giving off the illusion of going back…fucking loved it. I think every song here went through several name changes but the EP name itself always stuck.” To further enhanceRETROGRADE (PART 1)‘s throwback feel is the group’s well-crafted rendition of The Rolling Stones‘ top 10 hit from 1978, “Beast of Burden.“
Comprised of singer-songwriter Justin Howard and guitarist/electronic mixer Nick Wisse, V Y D developed their sound in Southern California as a result of inspiration found in the surf, freeways, sunshine and 90′s Alternative rock and hip hop music.Now based in Brooklyn, New York and adding NuDisco/Deep House to their influences, V Y D still delivers a sun-soaked and warm summer flavor to their unique style which is ever-evident on RETROGRADE (PART 1).
