Alex Sonata & TheRio

Hailing from Scotland and Italy, Fraser Shaw and Riccardo Derio, known by their stage name Alex Sonata & TheRio, have rapidly ascended in the global trance scene. The duo have been collaborating since 2018, garnering praise from the likes of Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate and Armin Van Buuren. After many collaborations, the pairing made it official in 2020, and Alex Sonata & TheRio was born.

Their last single, ‘Breath Of The Wild’ – inspired by the eponymous entry in The Legend of Zelda video game series, was selected by Above & Beyond for their Anjunabeats Volume 16 compilation, released in July 2022.

Following appearances at the official Group Therapy 450 warm-up and afterparties plus our Night Tales London residency, the pair dropped a livestreamed DJ set from Porto Flavia, Italy, in June 2022, which has attracted over 20,000 views and counting.

Alex Sonata & TheRio are set to take our stage at Creamfields by storm on August 27, and we’re equally excited to see them behind the decks at Group Therapy Weekender in London.
